The Human Capital Behind Every Successful Investment

About Darius

Darius Nasimi arrived in the United Kingdom as a six-month-old refugee after his family fled Taliban persecution in Afghanistan. That journey — spanning nine months and over 3,000 miles — shaped everything that followed.

Today, Darius is one of the UK's most distinctive voices at the intersection of community, governance, and capital. As Head of Funding & Partnerships at the Afghanistan & Central Asian Association (AGiE), he builds the institutional frameworks that connect diaspora communities to real investment opportunity. As founder of Suzani Capital and both the UK-Afghanistan and UK-Uzbekistan Business Councils, he has created the scaffolding for a new generation of cross-border capital flow between Central Asia, the UK, and the Gulf.

A 2024 Diana Award recipient for outstanding social action, Darius has appeared on Channel 4, GBNews, Arise News, the New Statesman, LondonLive and Asian Voice. He is a Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Heston West (2026) and a Strategic Advisor to the Global Healthcare Leadership Forum.

At the Invest UAE Forum 2026, he serves as Forum Moderator and Panel Host — and delivers a fireside conversation with Dr. Neha Dewan on the human capital that makes every successful investment possible.

The UAE is not just a financial hub. It is proof that when human capital converges, extraordinary things become possible.

Session Abstract

Every investment thesis talks about returns, yields, and market timing. Almost none talk about the human infrastructure — the community networks, the trust relationships, the cultural intelligence — that determines whether capital actually lands and grows in a new market. Drawing on his journey from refugee to cross-border capital architect, Darius Nasimi makes the case that in 2026, the UAE's greatest competitive advantage is not its free zones or its tax regime — it is its position as the world's most successful experiment in human capital convergence. Investors who understand that will outperform those who don't.
